NFL Draft... really? wow.

I do have to admit, which may discredit my opinion, or actually maybe credit it, depending on how you look at it. So the thing is that I actually do in fact have the NFL draft on the tv right now. So I have two things to say about it all: "really? wow." and "WHAT EV!".

I have been asking myself the same thing for the past 2 hours that you are asking yourself right now- "why?". Well my dear friends, I have put a little thought into it and here is what I have:
1) the "can't beat um, join um" theory.
2) wanting to know what the heck is all the hype is about? Maybe I missed something that last few years; I should tune in again to find out. (by the way, the answer to that is: "nothing" and "no")
3) I have nothing else on the tv I'd rather watch than ESPN, even if it is the damn draft (which is really sad).

So as I am watching the draft, (which by-the-way, feels like watching an episode of Desperate Housewives.... you literally can feel yourself actually getting stupider by the minute) here are the things that I just do not get....

1) what is the big deal? omg. All these stupid smiling tools are all going to be whinny, selfish, complaining, seriously stuck-up, better-than-anyone, SOB, over-rated athletes in the next few years. They are all TO's in the making!

2) ummmmm.... ANYONE who gives baseball players crap about being on steroids... all I have to say is... "Really?! wow." Because these dudes are so full of roids that they are all about to bust through the seems of their over-riced suits. GROSS!! Their necks are just as big as their ginormous heads! So I don't want to hear it! WHAT EV!

3)Why the heck are the players all talking on their damn cell phones when they get called??! REALLY?!? ok, so lets just say I am sitting in a witingroom, waiting for them to call my name for the results of an interview that I just did. I am all dressed up in my suit... with my cell phone all up in my ear??! really?!? wow!

4) Why is everyone booing at the rep who gets up to announce who their team picked? they boo when he gets up, they boo when he announces his pick... please! I don't get it. what ev to that.

5) how many damn picks are their? We are already on 24. if we go over 25 that is BS bc it is stupid. After the top 25 football players, they really are all the same. So just do something like a coin toss, or "Red-Rover, Red-Rover, send the big-headed guy right over", or something like that so we can get this over with and move on to Baseball Tonight!

  1. The NFL Draft, only professional sport that has the draft this covered. ESPN has two guys, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay that cover the draft and prospects the entire year. It is a big deal....

The MLB draft is over 20 rounds with the 30 plus teams picking each around. Yet NFL has only 7 rounds with their 30 plus teams getting picks each rounds. Could be worse or more painful for you I guess? :)

These prospects work out their whole lives for this one moment of being drafted. Top prospects even attend different positional camps and hire their own personal trainers before the NFL combine where all of the teams evaluate them. While many of them will not pan out even with the numerous evaluation from the NFL personnel evaluation members on each team, each prospect has undeniable talent.

Luckily not all of these guys are TO's in the making. Michael Oher is a offensive lineman from Mississippi taken by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round this year. He was an orphan, homeless at a young age, and worked through many obstacles to get an education and get to where he is today. Many other stories like these happen with these prospects.

Agreed, steroids are a problem in the NFL no matter how much they are tested. I was reading an article about Clay Matthews who is a linebacker from USC that was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He came into college as a 170 pound special teams player. 3 years later he is a senior weighing around 240 pounds and metamorphasized into another human being. Ridiculous...

The actual team that is drafting the player calls them right before the pick is in, or they may be talking to their agent. I agree it is lame though...

The draft takes place in New York and there are a bunch of rowdy Jets fans in attendance. Thus anything that doesn't have to deal with the Jets, they boo and yell...

Well my two cents which still won't change your mind about the NFL draft, yet something I do enjoy!
